According to early medal projections for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi (which will start at 11:00 p.m. mountain time on Wednesday), Norway might break Canada’s record for the most gold medals won at a single Olympic Winter Games.
The Norwegians could win 17 gold medals that would break Canada’s record of 14 gold medals that was set at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
Norway is expected to dominate biathlon and cross country skiing. Of their 17 gold medals, a total of 15 are expected to come from those two sports. Marit Bjoergen has a chance to win five gold medals in women’s cross country skiing and Tora Berger might win four gold medals in women’s biathlon.
